- FUNCTION: This program will allow you to bring a text file into
- Framework and convert it to a spreadsheet. Txtoss will properly
- convert most numbers into the spreadsheet (except fractions), but
- will not work with dates. You will have to edit the dates after
- using Txtoss.

- An ASCII text file, in columnar format

- SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:
- When you bring up Txtoss.FW, it should look like this:

- To use Txtoss, follow these steps:
-
- 1. Load Txtoss to the desktop.
- 2. Highlight the Txtoss frame and press RECALC (F5). You will
- see the Help frame displayed.
- 3. Load your text frame to the desktop, and name it "Txt."
- 4. Press Alt-R to reset Txtoss.
- 5. Edit the contents of "Txt" and do the following:
- (a) Delete all lines that should not go into the spreadsheet.
- (b) Ensure that all remaining lines are the same length. It
- may help to use Display Hidden Characters (from the Edit
- pull-down menu) for this.
- (c) Delete any blank lines.
- 6. Press Ctrl-Home to get to the top of "Txt."
- 7. Press EXTEND SELECT (F6), then use the right arrow key to
- highlight the width of the column, and press Return when
- done.
- 8. Press Alt-A to store column width for this column.
- 9. Press the right arrow key once, to advance to next column.
- 10. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each column, and be careful not to
- skip any characters or columns.
- 11. When you reach the last column, be sure to highlight all of
- the characters up to the end of line.
- 12. Close the "Txt" frame.
- 13. Press Alt-D to begin the transfer.
- 14. Txtoss will ask "How many rows?", and you type in how many
- spreadsheet rows you want created, including titles.
- 15. The rest is done for you. Txtoss will say "Finished!"
